Creative writing, no problem at all – but the process behind it means that information has to be carefully translated to be entertaining and geared to the target group. Elisa Brüning, Content Creator at Content Glory, does just that every day.

She researches, interviews, edits and ensures that ideas become content. If she is not working on her computer, Elisa is already on her way to the next editorial meeting. She produces compelling content for a wide variety of clients and knows that creativity is just as important as the ability to adapt different linguistic styles.

Elisa is therefore very familiar with the written word. However, she thinks that entertaining content needs one more component in order to be successful. In the interview she reveals which component this is and what the real make-or-break factor of a good Netflix series is.

So you work with content?

Exactly. As an editor, I'm responsible for ensuring that ultimately all kinds of ideas and topics become articles. I research, conduct interviews, write articles, (rewrite them until I'm satisfied) and edit the texts of my colleagues.

How do you explain the concept of content to your mum?

I don't have to! My mum reads my articles regularly – she already knows what good content is :)

Do you prefer to create or consume content?

It's all in the mix. It definitely doesn't hurt to get some inspiration here and there.

Or perhaps you’d rather eat instead? What does content taste like for you?

Like a completely new taste experience that is as savoury as your well-known favourite dish – simply delicious!

If content is king, who is queen?

Clearly SEO. The content can be ever so beautiful, it has to be found by the audience.

Content creation: What kick-starts your content machine?

New impressions. Nothing stimulates my creativity like foreign places, good conversations or interesting news do.

Early bird or night owl?

Yesterday morning I had to go back three times on my way to the gym, because I had forgotten three different things at home... do I have to say more?

CrossFit or yoga?

It's the mixture that’s interesting to me. But rather in the afternoon or evening (see above).

Coffee or tea?

Since I am half East Frisian, my heart beats for tea. But as a real morning grouch, I can't avoid having one or two coffees in the morning.

What is your desktop background?

Sometimes a playful floral pattern, sometimes an inspiring quote or even a minimalist design. Thanks to Pinterest, I change my desktop backgrounds as often as my clothes – well, almost.

Social content: Facebook, Insta, YouTube – what is your favourite channel to stalk?

Let's put it this way: I've set myself an app limit of 1.5 hours a day for Instagram on my iPhone and mercilessly exceed it every single day.

Binge watching – we know you do it, too! What series has you hooked?

On cosy Sundays in bed or on the couch I often try to give one or the other hyped Netflix series a chance... and always end up with my all-time favorites Gossip Girl and The Bold Type. Hand on heart: The best series are those, where I can be on my phone on the side and still don’t miss the plot.

What’s the content of your milk carton: cow’s milk or soy?

As a long-term veggie, it is soy of course...

Hidden content: Just between us – what skeletons are hiding in your data closet?

When I was about 14 years old, my friend and I created our own website.  As soon as school was out, we went to my dad's retro computer (at that time high-tech) and for hours upon hours we searched for kitschy Google pictures (copyright – what even is that?) and thought of texts to go with the pictures. Our personal highlight: The glittering desktop mouse in the shape of a cherry.
