To make content available for an audience, it not only needs to be produced, but also organised, maintained and analysed. These and many more are the daily tasks of Tanja Hoffmann, Content and Social Media Manager at Content Glory.
Tanja is convinced, that theoretical and practical experience belong together. Next to her job, she’s studying Marketing and is making use of her knowledge right away. Even though her studies at an university of applied science are already practice-oriented, there are always instances where professional life is a tad different.
Putting herself in the clients’ shoes, who work in different industries and for diverse target groups, is exactly what makes Content Management exciting for Tanja. In the interview, she reveals the source of her inspiration and what she cherishes in social media particularly.
So you work with content?
Yes, and I love it! At Content Glory, I’m responsible for the operational editorial process and the maintenance of our clients’ social media.
How do you explain the concept of content to your mum?
Funny enough, she asked me the exact question a couple of weeks ago. I explained to her that we are constantly surrounded by content. Everything with informative character is considered to be content, whether it’s image, text, video or audio. By using content, we want to wrap information into an attractive shape, in a way that we reach the relevant target group.
Do you prefer to create or consume content?
Both are fun, I’d say it mostly depends on the topic. If I’m especially familiar with something, I enjoy creating appealing content. But when it comes to topics that are new to me or with which I want to engage more deeply, I prefer consuming content.
Or perhaps you’d rather eat instead? What does content taste like for you?
Eat? If I’d have known earlier that this was an option, I’d have chosen that from the very beginning 😉. Content is definitely a question of taste. For me, good content tastes exciting and always different.
If content is king, who is queen?
I’d say creativity. Content is only half as appealing without a creative design.
Content creation: What kick-starts your content machine?
The biggest source of inspiration to me is my current study in the field of marketing and project management. Especially the exchange on different topics with experts inspires me.
Early bird or night owl?
At Content Glory, I’m certainly the earliest bird to flutter into the office 😉.
CrossFit or yoga?
I have never tried Cross-Fit, unfortunately. But it’s on top of my to-do-list. Sometimes my partner and I experiment with Acro Yoga – at the moment it’s not looking very graceful.
Coffee or tea?
Tea! I love tea! I seldomly drink coffee - but when I do, it looks more like milk with a shot of coffee than the other way around.
What is your desktop background?
A picture of a beautiful sunrise on Zanzibar. Rising early really did pay off.
Social content: Facebook, Insta, YouTube – what is your favourite channel to stalk?
Back in the days it was Facebook, for sure. By now I’m more and more active on Instagram. I love to watch the Insta-stories of my friends. As a result, I feel like I’m a little bit closer to people, who are far away.
Binge watching – we know you do it, too! What series has you hooked?
You caught me. Please don’t laugh. I’m a big fan of Grey’s Anatomy. I can’t stop watching, even though there are already 15(!) seasons. I have watched each one of them at least twice.
What’s the content of your milk carton: cow’s milk or soy?
I like both. But I’m more into cow’s milk.
Hidden content: Just between us – what skeletons are hiding in your data closet?
There are a few. Thank you very much Facebook, for reminding me every day of the (utterly embarrassing) posts I used to bore my friends with years ago.
